About The Club
Established in 1949, Old Josephians football has been going strong for nearly 60 years. The club currently runs one side in the Amateur Football Combination league, the largest football league in Europe. Traditional colours are red and black shirts, black shorts and red and black socks. Change of kit is yellow shirts, blue shirts and blue socks. The main home ground is South Bank Sports Ground, Turney Road, London, SE21 (Location Map). The nearest train stations are Herne Hill, Tulse Hill or West Dulwich. Ground B is the National Westminster Bank Sports Ground, Turle Road, Norbury, SW16 (Location Map). This can be accessed from Norbury or Streatham Common train stations. Ground C is Catford Powerleague, Canadian Avenue, London, SE6 (Location Map). This can be reached from Catford or Catford Bridge stations.
We play in the 'South' section of the Amateur football combination and games take place on Saturday afternoons. The standard is very much like a Ronseal tin (says amateur in the league name and is amatuer in standard), although the club's teams do vary in leagues by several divisions so there is a level to suit all qualities of player. Training takes place on Wednesday evenings. In pre-season (from mid July to early September) this is outside on Norbury fields off Gibson's Hill. During the season (September to April) this is from 19.30 to 21.00 in St Joseph's College sports hall. These are open sessions for anyone wishing to participate. A training fee of £1 is usually charged.
